A Successful Celebration of Tourism and Peace

The 4th edition of the World Tourism Day Run took place on September 28, 2024, at 3:00 AM, starting from the New Capitol Building, Tagbilaran City. This year’s run saw the participation of 830 runners, spread across three categories: 5K with 578 participants, 10K with 166, and 21K with 86.

Held as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, the event reflected the theme “Tourism and Peace.” Just as tourism fosters understanding and unity among cultures, the run promoted a sense of community, health, and harmony. Participants from different backgrounds gathered not only to race but also to symbolize the peaceful connections that both tourism and sports can inspire.

The success of the event was made possible through the support of partners like L&C Travel Services, Cocoberry Cafe, Hon. Van-Van Aumentado, Kew Hotel, Atoy Torralba, Parklane Bohol Resort and Spa, Wise Choice Supplements Philippines, Fitbar, The Right Fit Alter Station and Print Shop, Pamilacan Island Dolphin and Whale Watching Tours, Converge ICT Solutions Inc., Masaje de Bohol Sauna and Spa, JJ’s Seafood Village, Nature’s Spring, Pocari Sweat, Jojie’s, Unilab, Herbalife, Bohol Island State University, and the Association of Travel and Tourism Students.

The event was further supported by key organizations such as the Philippine Red Cross, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (T.a.R.S.I.E.R), and the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Office (TCTMO).

The run was more than just a test of endurance—it was a celebration of peace and well-being, in line with the values that tourism promotes globally. Through this event, participants embodied the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect, highlighting the powerful role that both tourism and sports play in uniting communities and promoting healthy lifestyles.
