The theme for this year’s 18th Katigbawan Festival in commemoration of the 74th Foundation Day of the municipality is “Pag-ugmad sa Kultura ug Turismo sa Catigbian alang sa Kauswagan”.
With reference to Municipal Ordinance No. 8 Series of 2005, several cultural and sports activities are lined up on June 11-17 such Tabo sa Katigbawan Food Bazaar, Katigbawan Mountainview Fun Run, Carabao Parade, Farmers Day, Street Dancing, PRIDE Parade, Nightly Cultural Shows/Live Bands and Comparza. The following are the objectives of the celebration:
1. To feature & promote tourism and investment potentials of the municipality and highlight new tourism sites
2. To commemorate the 18th Katigbawan Festival and its 74th Foundation Day of the municipality;
3. To inculcate culture and heritage preservation among the youth through involvement of all barangays, schools, civil society organizations and the youth in the celebration
4. To perpetuate the name Katigbi through planting and propagating Katigbi plant
5. To highlight the carabao as one of the economic drivers and cultural attractions of the town
6. To develop visual artistic talents through installations or tableau/agro-industrial fair/exhibits, welcome arcs, lobby displays and the like,
7. To promote cultural revival through cultural activities such as street dancing and talent competitions and to discover young artistic talents and
8. To integrate SOGIE awareness
On the 17th of June shall be the 74th foundation day celebration where shall have the street dancing and showdown at the same time the State of the Municipality Address (SOMA). Exciting and festive activities awaits our constituents and visitors as well.
