Our day in Panglao began under a bright sun, perfect for exploring. After arranging a private tour for just Php6000 ($120), our driver, who also served as our tourist guide, crafted an itinerary that promised a blend of culture and nature. We couldn’t wait to dive into the island’s offerings.
Dauis Church
Our first destination was Dauis Church, a serene place steeped in history with its miraculous well and stunning architecture. The peaceful drive and the church’s solemn ambiance offered a tranquil start to our day.
Hinagdanan Cave
Next, we explored Hinagdanan Cave, known for its natural beauty and clear underground pool. The cave’s cool interior and mystic stalactites and stalagmites were a hit, especially with the kids, who were thrilled by the echoing sounds of bats.
Nova Shell Museum
The Nova Shell Museum was a wonderland of marine shells, captivating my daughter with its vast collection. Her excitement and curiosity about the different shells made this stop unforgettable.
Panglao Church and Bohol Bee Farm
We briefly admired Panglao Church’s impressive watchtower and then headed to Bohol Bee Farm for lunch. The farm’s focus on organic produce and sustainable practices was enlightening, and the ocean-view dining was a treat, especially the honey-sweetened ice cream and delicious grilled ribs.
Alona Beach and Alona Square
After cooling off at our hotel, we spent the late afternoon at Alona Beach, enjoying the festive atmosphere and beautiful sunset. We concluded our day at Alona Square, where my daughter played joyfully, and we all enjoyed dinner accompanied by live music and a vibrant fire dance.
